Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B (WPD) now assigns wholesale orders to the buyer's company in Shopify, rather than leaving them attached only to the individual customer.
Why this matters
If your wholesale customers are on Shopify company accounts, orders WPD created used to land in Shopify as separate individual orders, disconnected from the customer's company. That could break:
- Company order history in Shopify admin
- ERP sync
- Bookkeeping and reporting that relies on company-level order data
Shopify already warns merchants when orders aren't assigned to a company and tells them to contact the app developer. This update fixes that for WPD-created draft orders.
What changed
- When WPD creates a draft order for a buyer who's a contact at a company, it now passes along the company, location, and contact information.
- The order shows up under the correct company in Shopify admin, next to orders placed directly through Shopify.
- A new setting controls this, off by default, so it only affects merchants using Shopify company accounts. If you don't use company accounts, nothing changes for you.
How to turn it on
- In the WPD app, go to Settings > Shopify company accounts.
- Enable "Assign orders to buyer's company."
- Save your changes.
Once enabled, any new draft order WPD creates for a company contact gets assigned to that company in Shopify.
Important limitation
This applies to new orders only. Shopify doesn't support reassigning past orders to a company, so any order placed before you turn on this setting stays as it is. That's a Shopify platform limitation, and WPD (or any other app) can't backfill it.
FAQs
I turned this on, but my new orders still aren't showing under the company. Why?
Check that the buyer is set up as a contact at a company in Shopify, and that the setting is saved and enabled. Still not working? Contact support.
Can you fix my past orders?
No. No app, including WPD, can reassign historical orders to a company. Shopify doesn't support it.
Will this change anything if I don't use Shopify company accounts?
No. The setting is off by default and has no effect on your draft order flow unless you turn it on.
