The Exclude from Discount option lets you keep specific products or collections at their original price, even when a Discount Group is set to apply to your Entire Store or to Selected Collections.
This is useful when you want to discount most of your catalog but protect low-margin or high-cost items from being discounted along with everything else.
Before you begin
A few things to know before setting up exclusions:
(I) The Exclude from Discount section only appears when Applies to is set to Entire Store or Selected Collections
(II) Exclusions are not available when Applies to is set to Selected Products
Step 1: Open or create a Discount Group
In your WSH Wholesale Pricing app, navigate to the Discount Groups menu and either create a new Discount Group or open an existing one to edit.
(If you are creating a Discount Group for the first time, see How do I create a Discount Group?)
Step 2: Set Applies to as Entire Store or Selected Collections
Under Applies to, choose either:
i. Entire store: the discount applies across all products in your store.
ii. Selected collections: the discount applies only to the collections you choose.
Once one of these is selected, the Exclude from Discount section becomes available.
Step 3: Choose an exclusion type
In the Exclude from discount section, choose how you want to exclude items:
i. No exclusions: the default option. Nothing is excluded and the discount applies to everything in the Applies to setting.
ii. Exclude products: exclude specific products from the discount.
iii. Exclude collections: exclude entire collections from the discount.
Step 4: Search or browse for items to exclude
Once you select Exclude products or Exclude collections, use the Search field or the Browse button to find the items you want to exclude.
Selected items appear in a list below the search field. You can remove any item from the list using the Remove link next to it.
Excluded items will not receive any discount and will remain at their original price on the storefront, while the rest of the catalog continues to be discounted as normal.
Step 5: Save the Discount Group
After reviewing your exclusions, click the Save button to apply your changes.
Done! 🎉 The selected products and collections will now stay at their original price, while the rest of the Discount Group continues to discount as set.
Key notes
Exclusions apply to Percentage and Volume Discounts only. The exclusion list affects Percentage Discounts and Volume Discounts (VD). Other discount types are not impacted by exclusions.
IVP (Individual Variant Pricing) is not affected. If a product has an IVP set, that IVP will continue to work even if the product is added to the exclusion list. This applies when the integration is a liquid type.
Exclusions are only available for the Entire Store and Selected Collections. The Exclude from Discount section will not appear if Applies to is set to Selected Products, since you are already choosing items individually in that case.
Example setup
Here is a common use case:
Title: 20% off for Wholesale Customers Customer eligibility: Logged-in customers only Customer tag: Wholesale Applies to: Entire store Exclude from discount: Exclude products → a few high-cost individual products
In this setup, every logged-in customer with the Wholesale tag gets 20% off the entire store, except the high-cost products you excluded, which stay at their original price.
