A Discount Group lets you decide which customers should get a discount and where that discount should apply in your store.
You can use a Discount Group to create pricing rules for different types of customers, such as wholesale customers, distributors, VIP buyers, or retail customers.
You can assign customers to a discount group using a customer tag.
Before you begin
Before creating a discount group, make sure you know:
> which customers should receive the discount
> which customer tag you want to use
> whether the discount should apply to your entire store, selected collections, or selected products
Step 1: Open Discount Groups
In your WSH Wholesale Pricing app, go to Discount Groups.
Then click Create Discount Group.
Step 2: Add a title
Enter a clear name for your discount group.
Examples:
> Wholesale
> VIP Customers
> Distributor Pricing
This title helps you identify the group later inside the app.
Step 3: Choose customer eligibility
Note: This feature is only available in the Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B's PROFESSIONAL plan and above.
Use Customer eligibility to decide who can access this discount group.
Logged-in customers only
Choose this when the discount should be available only to customers who:
> are logged in
> have the customer tag used for this discount group
This is the most common option for wholesale pricing.
Guest users only
Choose this when the discount should be visible only to visitors who are not logged in.
No customer tag is required for this option.
All users (logged-in and guests)
Choose this when both of the following should see the discount:
> logged-in customers with the selected tag
> guest visitors
Important: If you choose Logged-in customers only or All users, make sure the correct customer tag is added in the Customer tag field (below).
Step 4: Add a Customer tag
In the Customer tag field, enter the tag that should be connected to this discount group.
Examples:
> wholesale
> distributor
> vip
> retail
Customers with this tag can be added to the Discount Group.
You can also manually add existing customers to the group using the Add customers button.
Step 5: Choose where the discount applies
Under Applies to, choose where this discount group should work:
Entire store
The discount applies across all products in your store.
Selected collections
The discount applies only to products inside the collections you choose.
Selected products
The discount applies only to the specific products you choose.
Step 6: Set minimum requirements (optional)
Under Minimum requirements, you can decide whether customers must meet certain conditions before the discount applies.
You can set:
> Minimum purchase amount ($)
> Minimum order quantity
Use this when you want the discount to apply only after a customer reaches a certain cart value or quantity.
Example:
- minimum order quantity of 10
- minimum purchase amount of $200
Step 7: Set the shipping rate
Under Shipping rate, choose how shipping should work for this discount group.
Store default
Uses your store’s existing shipping setup.
Flat rate
Lets you apply a fixed shipping charge for this Discount Group.
This is useful when you want to offer a special shipping rule for certain customers.
For flat rates, you can set conditions for the shipping charges to be applied, such as total cart price or total cart weight.
Step 8: Save the discount group
After reviewing your settings, click Save.
Your discount group will then be ready to use.
Example setup
Here is a common wholesale setup:
- Title: Wholesale
- Customer eligibility: Logged-in customers only
- Customer tag: wholesale
- Applies to: Entire store
- Minimum requirements: Optional
- Shipping rate: Store default or Flat rate
In this setup, only logged-in customers with the wholesale tag will receive the discount.
Troubleshooting
My customer is not seeing the discount
Check the following:
- the customer is logged in
- the correct customer tag is added to their profile
- the discount group is enabled
- the products they are viewing are included in the Applies to setting
I selected Guest users only, but tagged customers are not getting the discount
That is expected. Guest users only works only for visitors who are not logged in.
I added a tag, but the discount still does not apply
Make sure:
- the tag matches exactly
- the customer is part of the correct discount group
- any minimum requirements are being met
Summary
A Discount Group helps you control:
i. who gets the discount
ii. where the discount applies
iii. when it becomes active based on your rules
If you are using the Professional plan or above, you can also use Customer eligibility to control whether the discount is shown to logged-in customers, guests, or both.
