A Discount Group lets you decide which customers should get a discount and where that discount should apply in your store.
You can use a Discount Group to create pricing rules for different types of customers, such as wholesale customers, distributors, VIP buyers, or retail customers.
You can assign customers to a discount group using a customer tag.
Before you begin
Before creating a discount group, make sure you know:
(I) which customers should receive the discount
(II) which customer tag do you want to use
(III) whether the discount should apply to your entire store, selected collections, or selected products
Step 1: Open Discount Groups
In your WSH Wholesale Pricing app, navigate to the Discount Groups menu.
Then click on the Create discount group button at the top right.
Step 2: Add a title
Enter a clear name for your Discount Group.
Examples: Wholesale, VIP Customers, Distributor Pricing, Bronze Tier Customers, etc.
This title helps you identify the customer group later inside the app.
Step 3: Choose customer eligibility
Note: This feature is only available in the Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B's PROFESSIONAL plan and above. For customers who can't see this feature, kindly reach out to the support team via in-app live chat.
Use Customer eligibility to decide who can access this discount group.
i. Logged-in customers only
Choose this when the discount should be available only to customers who are logged in and have the customer tag used for this Discount Group
This is the most common option for wholesale pricing.
ii. Guest users only
Choose this when the discount should be visible only to visitors who are not logged in.
iii. All users (logged-in and guests)
Choose this when you want both the logged-in customers & guest visitors to see the discount.
Step 4: Add a Customer tag
In the Customer tag field, enter a tag that should be connected to this Discount Group.
Examples: Wholesale, Gold Tier, Selected Gold Tier, VIP, Retail, Distributor, Reseller, etc.
Now, if the customer already has this tag, they will be automatically added to this Discount Group. Additionally, (if you want) you can manually add existing customers to the group using the Add customers/Edit customers button (shown in the image above).
Step 5: Choose where the discount applies
Now, under Applies to, choose where this Discount Group should work for selected customers:
i. Entire store: The discount applies across all products in your store.
ii. Selected collections: The discount applies only to products inside the collections you choose.
iii. Selected products: The discount applies only to the specific products you choose.
Step 6: Set minimum requirements (optional)
Under Minimum requirements, you can decide whether customers must meet certain conditions before the discount applies.
Here you can set: Minimum purchase amount ($) and/or Minimum order quantity for your selected customers and products/collections.
Step 7: Set the shipping rate
Under Shipping rate, choose how shipping should work for this Discount Group.
i. Store default: Select Store default if you want this Discount Group to use your store’s regular (existing) shipping settings.
ii. Flat rate: Select Flat rate if you want to set/charge a fixed shipping amount for this Discount Group.
You can also set conditions for when the flat rate should apply, based on: total cart price and total cart weight.
Step 8: Save the Discount Group
After reviewing your settings, please click on the Save button to save your Discount Group.
Congratulations! 🎉 Your discount group is now set up and ready to offer Percentage Discounts, Individual Variant Pricing, Volume Discounts, and more, depending on your current plan.
Example setup
Here is a common wholesale setup:
Title: 30% off for Gold Tier Customers
Customer eligibility: Logged-in customers only
Customer tag: Gold Tier
Applies to: Selected Products
Minimum requirements: Optional
Shipping rate: Flat rate $15 for orders greater than $400.
In this setup, only logged-in customers with the Gold Tier tag will receive the set discount type.
Troubleshooting common Discount Group issues
Q: My customer is not seeing the discount
Check the following:
The customer is logged in.
The correct customer tag has been added to their profile.
The Discount Group is enabled.
The products the customer is viewing are included in the Applies to setting.
Any minimum purchase amount or order quantity requirements are being met.
Q: I selected Guest users only, but tagged customers are not getting the discount
This is expected. The Guest users only option applies only to visitors who are not logged in. Logged-in customers will not receive this discount, even if they have the correct customer tag.
Q: I added a tag, but the discount still does not apply
Make sure:
The customer tag matches exactly.
The customer has been added to the correct Discount Group.
The Discount Group is enabled.
The relevant products are included in the Applies to setting.
Any minimum requirements have been met.
