Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B can now apply a Discount Group directly to the Shopify companies you choose, instead of tagging each company contact.
Pick the companies once. Every contact in those companies gets the wholesale pricing automatically, including contacts you add to the company later in Shopify. No tags to create, no customer records to keep in sync.
This is useful if you already manage your buyers as Shopify B2B companies and need more price levels than Shopify's native B2B catalogs allow.
Before you start
You need all of the following:
- The Enterprise or Global plan of Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B
- Shopify B2B enabled on your store, with at least one company created
- Your store theme is integrated with Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B
- New customer accounts, with your buyers added as contacts on their company and assigned to a company location
If you're on the Basic or Professional plan, the Selected companies option won't appear on the Discount Group screen of the Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B app.
How to set it up
Step 1. Open Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B and go to Discount Groups, then create a new group or open an existing one.
Step 2. Under Customer eligibility, choose Selected companies (Only the companies you add to this group will see the discount).
Step 3. Now, enter a Group label. This is an internal label made up of letters, numbers, and dashes. It identifies the group in the app. You don't need to add it to any customer, and it doesn't appear as a customer tag.
Step 4. Next, click Add companies button to open the company picker.
Step 5. Search for a company by name, tick it, and click Add.
You can add up to 250 companies to a single group. The companies you select appear in the Companies in this group table, with the main contact for each. Use Edit companies to change the list later.
Step 6. Now, choose what the discount applies to: the entire store, selected collections, or selected products. See this article to know more about the Discount Group creation >
Step 7. Set Status to Enabled and hit Save.
Step 8. Now, go to the main dashboard and set your desired pricing.
Company groups work with all three pricing types: Percentage discount. Individual variant pricing and Volume or tiered pricing.
What your buyer sees
When a contact of one of those companies logs in, Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B matches them to their company and applies the group pricing automatically. The buyer doesn't need any customer tag on their account.
The pricing applies to:
- Product and collection pages
- The Dedicated Wholesale Section
- The cart, through cart validation
- Checkout
- Manual orders you create in Shopify admin
Things to know
1. Limits
Up to 250 companies per discount group. The picker stops you at 250.
Your storefront recognises up to 50 active company groups per store. This is a Shopify Liquid limit. The app won't block you from creating more, but groups beyond 50 won't apply on the storefront.
2. When a buyer qualifies for more than one group
If a buyer qualifies through both a customer tag group and a company group, the higher percentage wins.
Within a group, priority is unchanged: individual variant pricing, then volume discounts, then percentage discounts.
3. Contacts in more than one company
A contact who belongs to several companies is priced by the company of their currently selected location.
4. Draft orders
Storefront draft orders are attributed to the buyer's company only when Settings > Shopify company accounts > "Assign orders to the buyer's company" is switched on. This now also works for buyers without a selected location, which covers classic accounts and the Dedicated Wholesale Section. Read more about it here >
Troubleshooting
(a) I don't see the Selected companies option.
Check your plan. The option is available on Enterprise and Global only. Also confirm your store is in Storefront (BDR) mode.
(b) The company picker is empty.
You have B2B enabled but no companies created yet. Create a company in Shopify admin under Customers > Companies, then reopen the picker.
(c) The company picker shows an error.
This usually means Shopify refused the company lookup because B2B isn't available on your store. Confirm B2B is enabled on your Shopify plan, then try again. If the error persists, contact support.
(d) My buyer logs in but still sees retail prices.
Check that:
- The discount group status is Enabled
- The buyer's company is listed in Companies in this group
- The buyer is a contact on that company and is assigned to a location
- The buyer is logged in with a new customer account, not a legacy account
- You haven't exceeded 50 active company groups on the store
(e) My buyer sees a different price than expected.
If they also hold a customer tag used by another group, the higher percentage applies. Check whether they qualify through a tag group as well.
FAQs
i. Do I still need customer tags?
Not for these companies. Tag-based groups continue to work exactly as before, and you can run both kinds of groups side by side.
ii. What happens when I add a new contact to a company in Shopify?
They get the group pricing on their next login. Nothing to update in the app.
iii. Can I mix companies and tags in the same group?
No. A discount group uses one customer eligibility type. Create separate groups if you need both.
iv. Can I target a single location of a company rather than the whole company?
Not currently. The group applies to the company, and a contact is priced by the company of their selected location.
v. I have hundreds of tagged wholesale customers. Do I have to create companies for all of them by hand?
A guided bulk conversion from customer tags to Shopify companies is planned. Stay tuned.
